The New York Buildings of Excellence Competition is an important program aimed at highlighting sustainability and environmental consciousness in the construction sector. We at Construction Guide are big believers in eco-friendly construction and have great enjoyed the competition so far.
It began in 2019 with the aim of delivering cash prizes across its three rounds. The goal is to highlight the design, construction, and operation of low or zero-carbon multifamily buildings.
There is a total prize pool of $40 million with each winner awarded up to $1 million. Not only are the chosen projects amazing architectural designs, but they are also leading the way in New York’s clean energy movement.

The importance of projects like this can’t be overstated. We are at a key turning point in our environmental journey and the construction industry must do more to play its part in switching to sustainable practices. We hope in the future that there will be many more projects of this kind across the country.
